These fathers participated in their children?s schooling to ensure that they were getting the highest quality of education, and would not settle for anything less. Their paternal behaviors were evident and formed the model of the Eight Paternal Behaviors Fostering Academic Success. This model was developed from this study and provides a pattern for other African American fathers to implement in their parenting practices. The implementation of this model has implications for social change as it may lead to an increase in academic success within the African American community, one home at a time.
